A Bad Experience at the Olde Pink House restaurant

We ate at this restaurant in Savannah, Georgia and wish we hadn’t. I am a travel writer and wanted to sample this place as it was highly recommended. It was a disastrous disappointment. I didn’t let them know I was on assignment as I didn’t want to get special treatment. Well I certainly didn’t.

We arrived a few minutes before our 9 PM reservation and stood at the desk for a very long time while they tried to find our reservation. Eventually they did and we were sent to a crowded noisy bar where we waited well past the time of the reservation. Our time came and went but we were never called to the dining room.  Much later and after asking repeatedly we were finally shown to a table but then waited 40 minutes for a waiter to appear. My wife ordered scallops and I ordered shrimp and scallops and a glass of white wine. Her dinner was OK but mine was not. My scallops were fine but the two little shrimps were cold and hard. My wine arrived with the meal but it was warm. We would have complained but we didn’t see our waitress again. I finally asked another server to find her so we could get our bill and leave.

The meals were well below standard and several dollars higher than the menu given to us by our hotel next door. Other guests at our hotel had similar experiences. Avoid this place. It is surviving on a reputation that no longer pertains.
